Yes, we live in a tech bubble here in the Bay Area, and with the omnipresence of tech in our lives comes… the old laptop. It’s a pain to try to sell them, but they still work so you don’t just want to send them off as e-waste. Here’s a chance to clear out some clutter in your house and help an amazing cause.
StreetCode Academy is a local non-profit based in East Palo Alto that was founded to address the lack of access to high-tech training for youth and young adults in communities of color, and consequently, a diversity deficit in the technology industry. Their mission is to equip a generation of under-represented leaders with the skills to hack, hustle, and design the future. And you can help.
The program has been such a huge success, they have more students than they have computers for. If you would be willing to donate working laptops, it would go a long way to helping StreetCode meet the needs of its students. This is a cause we’re passionate about – we will even come pick up the laptop from you and get it to StreetCode. There’s no reason not to say yes!
