Lest your property tax bill get lost in a pile of unopened mail, we wanted to remind you all of the upcoming deadlines for your property tax payments for 2016/17.

The below dates are postmark dates – your payment must be postmarked by the postoffice on or before the dates outlined below in order to avoid penalties and interest.

  • November 10, 2016: First payment due.
  • December 10th, 2016: First payment is considered delinquent after this date and you will incur penalties of 10% plus interest that accrues each month after the missed payment.
  • February 1, 2017: Second payment due.
  • April 10th, 2017: Second payment considered delinquent after this date. Same penalties and interest apply as above.

Remember to include your Assessors Parcel Number (APN) on your check.

What if you’re buying or selling a property?

Property taxes are pro-rated by the title company who is handling the transaction. At closing, sellers are credited on a pro-rated basis for property taxes they may have paid in advance for the time they will no longer own the house.
